Union tops Western Beaver
Union (60) Vs. Western Beaver (53)
Feb 04, 2015
Host Union started slow, but finished strong in the win over Section 1-A opponent Western Beaver.

The Golden Beavers (1-10, 3-14) held an early double-digit lead, but Union was able to battle back and trail by just one point heading into the half.

“We got off to a sluggish start, but we picked it up,” Union coach Mark Stanley said. “We got some steals and some layups, we fell down 18-6 and at that point on, we went 19-8 going into the half. We picked up our effort a little bit.”

Garrison Bell led the Scotties (8-4, 11-9) with 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Cornell Charles tallied 16 points and Jullian Johnson followed with 13 points.

“Jullian plays hard all the time,” Stanley said. “He was able to get some boards and putbacks, some three-point plays. He gives effort every night, he does a lot of the little stuff.”
