The depth of Boardman High (Ohio) wore down Neshannock in a nonsection clash.

The Spartans (9-7) had three players score 16 or more, led by John Fithian’s 18 points. Boardman trailed by one after the first quarter, but outscored Neshannock (13-5) by 15 points in the next three quarters.

“They were just very deep compared to us,” Lancers coach John Corey said. “They were able to play 10 to 12 guys tonight. They were always running new guys in. It wasn’t any one thing they did in particular to score the 81 points, and at no point did I think the game got away from us. They just have some unbelievable athletes.”

Dave DiBernardi and Dayne Hammond scored 16 points apiece.

Neshannock’s Brandon Marinelli scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while David Burkes netted 19, including going 12 for 12 from the free-throw line. Anthony Van Eman added 11 points.
