Ellwood girls in rout
Ellwood City (66) Vs. Freedom (34)
Dec 30, 2010
Nine players scored for Ellwood City in a dominant victory over Freedom in the Riverside Tournament.

The Lady Wolverines (4-4) quickly erased an early 9-4 deficit by finishing the first quarter on an 11-2 run. They kept the momentum going in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs, 20-6.

Michelle Nocera led Ellwood City with 17 points, while Kara Sainato netted a season-high 13. Nocera also tied Asia Borders with a team-best nine rebounds. Allison Marshall led in assists with eight and also chipped in five points.

“Freedom came out and was up 9-4, and we were missing shots,” Ellwood City coach Bill Gottuso said. “After that we went on a nice run.”

Gottuso also said the news was good for Nicole Nocera, who injured her shoulder in Tuesday night’s loss to Trinity. He said there was no broken bone or dislocation, but the shoulder is severely bruised and Nocera will likely miss “a few games.”
