Laurel girls stop Union
Laurel (43) Vs. Union (31)
Dec 30, 2010
Laurel’s Dalainey Meals put the clamps down on Union’s Savannah Partridge as the Lady Spartans claimed the consolation win in the Union Booster Tournament.
Partridge, averaging 19.8 points a game, was held to just two points because of Meals’ suffocating defense.
“I’m just thrilled with Dalainey’s defense,” first-year Laurel coach Jessica Shevitz said. “Holding Savannah to just two points is a great job.”
Becca Kerr paced the Lady Spartans (3-4) with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Marisa Wallas added 11 markers.
Marissa Heaney notched eight points for the Lady Scots (1-8).
“Laurel played very well defensively,” Union coach Brian Fadden said.
The Lady Scots’ Taryn Wright along with the Lady Spartans’ Kerr were selected to the all-tournament team.
