Poor foul shooting costs Laurel
New Brighton (56) Vs. Laurel (45)
Jan 06, 2010
Laurel struggled at the foul line and New Brighton took advantage in posting a Section 2-AA victory.

The Spartans (1-2, 4-4) were just 9 of 24 at the stripe, including 2 of 12 in the first half.

“We shot very poorly from the line and we missed layups,” Laurel coach Mike Tinstman said. “You can’t shoot that way against any team in our league and expect to win.

“It’s frustrating because we work on our free throws every day. We played hard, that’s why we stayed in the game.”

Laurel’s Shane Caldararo recorded a game-high 16 points, while Jake Dando tallied nine markers and a team-best nine rebounds.

Chris Weathers led the Lions (1-1, 4-5) with 15 points.
