Wilmington girls win
Wilmington (35) Vs. Lakeview (21)
Jan 06, 2015
Wilmington surged in the second half of its District 10, Region 2-AA win over host Lakeview.

The Lady Greyhounds (1-1, 5-6) figured out the Lakeview 3-2 zone and were able to exploit it to the tune of 20 second-half points.

“We weren’t moving the ball well in the first half,” Wilmington coach Matt Fabian said. “Their zone was giving us fits, but we finally got the ball inside-out. That was huge in the second half and that’s what got us open looks.”

Hannah Drake had a team-high 14 points, but it was the return of Lexi Brumbaugh that stuck out most.

The sophomore guard, who missed the last five games with a head injury, returned and scored four points but grabbed a team-high 11 boards.

“For her to come back and contribute where we’ve been struggling a little bit, it was nice to have her back,” Fabian said.

Sam Womer led the Lady Sailors (0-3, 0-10) with 15 points.
