Union (76) Vs. Rochester (64)
Dec 13, 2014
Garrison Bell tickled the twine for 20 points and Anthony Rush chipped in with 19 markers in Union’s 76-64 Section 1-A homecourt victory over Rocester
Union (1-0, 1-3) led 32-31 at the half and opened up a lead in the third quarter before the Rams rallied to tie the score. The Scotties went on a run in the final period to put it out of reach, despite struggling at the free throw line, where they converted just 19 of 34.
“We had some problems with free throws and a little bit with turnovers, but other than that we played well,” Union coach Mark Stanley said. “We’ve got to work on the free throws, I keep saying that, although we did make them when we needed to.”
Rush scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and made 5 of 6 free throws in the frame.
“Anthony got it done down the stretch,” Stanley said. “Garrison played well, too. We got it done, it was a good victory.”
Rochester is 0-1, 1-3.
Timmy Sumner scored 24 points, including six 3-pointers, in a 59-41 junior varsity victory for Union.
