Ellwood rolls to win over Laurel

The Ellwood City Lincoln High boys basketball team suffocated Laurel last night.
The Wolverines pitched a shutout in the third quarter en route to a 45-29 WPIAL Section 2-AA road win.
Ellwood City built a 32-16 halftime advantage and pushed the buffer to 43-16 after three periods.
Todd Fennick netted five points for the Spartans, while Ryan Hites, Richard Jones, Josh Dando and Brad Telesz chipped in with four points apiece. Jones pulled down a team-high four rebounds as well.
Laurel (0-3 section, 1-9 overall) was 9 of 48 from the field, compared to 18 of 38 for Ellwood.
“We shot poorly, and on top of that, when we made turnovers, Ellwood capitalized,” Spartans coach Mike Tinstman said. “We didn’t shoot well, and we didn’t handle the ball well.”
Brandon Lucarelli tossed in 15 points for the Wolverines (2-2, 6-5).
