Jan 04, 2011
Sharpsville had one too many shooters for Wilmington in a District 10, Region 2-AA contest.
The Lady Greyhounds (1-2, 4-4) hung around in the fist half, but Sharpsville pulled away in the final two quarters, outscoring Wilmington, 30-20. The Blue Darlings’ Katelyn Skurpa scored six of her 10 in the third quarter, and Jenna Grady made four 3-pointers to notch a team-best 18 points.
“They weren’t doing anything special, they were just hitting their shots,” Wilmington coach Brandy Sanford said. “Our transition defense was good. They’re just a good shooting team.”
Alanna Elliott scored a season-high 14 points for the Lady Greyhounds. Haley Marett added 10 points and corralled seven rebounds.
