Union girls fall to Moniteau

The Union High girls basketball team fell short last night in its bid for win No. 2.

Moniteau advanced to the Union Boosters Tournament championship with a 45-34 triumph over the Lady Scots at Mike Covelli Field House.

The Lady Warriors had a 14-12 lead after the first quarter and increased it to 25-19 at halftime. Moniteau pushed its advantage to 10 points, 38-28, after three quarters. Union (1-7) trimmed the deficit to seven points, 41-34, with 1:36 to play, but could not rally for the win.

Savannah Partridge led Union with a game-high 17 points. The Lady Scots will battle Laurel at 3 p.m. in today’s consolation game.

Krista Snyder had 15 points for Moniteau, which will meet Wilmington at 6 p.m. in the title tilt.
