Neshannock used a strong start to hold off Freeport in a game with more than 65 turnovers.

The Lady Lancers outscored Freeport, 12-3, in the first quarter and was up 29-19 at the half. The Lady Yellow Jackets pulled within five to start the fourth quarter, but that’s when Neshannock pulled it together.

“We had 35 turnovers, and I stopped counting there’s after 30,” Neshannock coach Luann Grybowski said. “We just looked out of sync. We’re going to turn it over because we play uptempo, but that’s just ridiculous. There were a lot of times we got a steal, and we turned it over before we got a shot off.”

While it was ugly at times, the Lady Lancers received strong efforts from Ericka Warvell (15 points, nine rebounds) and Chelsea Kauffman (14 points, six assists). Freeport’s Lindsey Gugiano scored 15 to lead the Lady Yellow Jackets.
