Brett Chieze’s career-high 29 points weren’t enough to lift the Wildcats to a Section 2-AA win over New Brighton.
Chieze, a sophomore, knocked down six 3-pointers and 7 of 8 from the foul line.
“I think he’s now starting to come into his own,” Shenango coach Bob McQuiston said. “I thought he shot the ball pretty well. He was getting some open looks from three and was knocking them down. He was making some things happen.”
Fellow sophomore Jeff Williams added 14 points for the Wildcats (0-3, 1-10).
New Brighton (3-1, 6-5) trailed by two at halftime but used a 17-8 third-quarter run to rally for the victory.
