The Class AA Lady Warriors were no match for Mt. Lebanon, which is ranked No. 5 in Quad-A, in the Blackhawk Tipoff Tournament.

“At first, we said no to playing in the tournament, but then we decided it would be a great experience,” Mohawk coach Mike O’Lare said. “Last year, the Beaver Falls girls got killed by New Castle in the opener and they ended up making the playoffs.

“As much as the score probably doesn’t indicate it, we actually played hard. We did the best we could. We scrapped with them from start to finish. The way I look at it, it was a great experience and at least we know we’re not going to see anybody like we did tonight again this year.”

Jackie Babe, a Duquesne University recruit, scored 10 points for Mt. Lebanon.

The Lady Warriors take on Blackhawk in the consolation game at 2 p.m. today.
