The Shenango High girls basketball team has a 1,000-point scorer.
It also has an upset victory over Mohawk.
Lady Wildcats’ senior Samantha Seaburn scored 24 points to top the 1,000-point career scoring plateau in a 48-41 WPIAL Section 1-AA road victory over the Lady Warriors on Friday night.
Seaburn reached the magic number on a free throw late in the fourth quarter to increase her career total to 1,001 points. She had 18 of her points in the second half.
“It was fitting that she was fouled getting an offensive rebound and that is how she got her 1,000th,” Shenango coach Jason Rankin said. “That is just the way she plays all the time, going after every rebound, every loose ball.
“She has helped take her game and our program to the next level,” he added. “She is such a great leader for us.”
Shenango is now 7-5 in the section, 12-9 overall. Mohawk is 8-4 and 17-4. Both teams are headed to the playoffs.
Erin Giancola scored 14 points and Aliya Gage added 10 for Mohawk.
