Jan 25, 2016
The Lady Lancers committed 21 turnovers in a 55-34 Section 1-AA road loss to the Lady Panthers. Riverside (8-2, 16-2) took over first place in the section from Neshannock (7-2, 13-3) with the win by a half game. The Lady Lancers are a game up over third-place Mohawk (6-3, 14-3).
"We just looked out of sync offensively," Neshannock coach Luann Grybowski said. "We'll go back to the drawing board and try to fix what's not right.
"We didn't rebound well. We didn't defend exceptionally well. I can't pick out too many good things we did. It just wasn't a good game. They outplayed us and they deserved to win."
The Lady Lancers cut the deficit to 10 points with three minutes to go in the third quarter. But Riverside forced two turnovers and turned the miscues into a three-pointer and a field goal to push the lead to 15. Neshannock couldn't get any closer the rest of the way.
Bella Burrelli recorded a team-high nine points for the Lady Lancers.
Katie Stang poured in a game-best 23 markers for Riverside, including 12 in the third period.
