The Lady 'Canes started strong and pulled away for a 58-44 Section 2-AAA road win over the Lady Vikings.

New Castle (4-7, 5-13), which broke a three-game losing streak, led 14-7 after one quarter and 32-18 at the half.

"We played well and we played our pace," said first-year Lady 'Canes coach Maria Joseph. "We got up and defended and we mixed it up in the press."

Jaidyn Eggleston paced New Castle with 21 points and Kayla Harvey was next with 16 markers and 12 rebounds. Tanai Brothers tossed in 10 tallies for the victors.

Skylar Duffee handed out six assists for the Lady 'Canes.

Emily Cropper collected a team-high 11 points for Hopewell (0-11, 0-16).
