Shenango turned the defense up in an easy 51-25 Section 1-AA victory over visiting New Brighton.

The Lady Wildcats (1-1, 2-2) allowed just three second-quarter points as they took a 23-9 lead into the half.

"I just think we executed a little bit better defensively," Shenango coach Jason Rankin said. "We were able to take away the passing lanes. We had a lot of open shots early but they weren't falling. We took it to the basket a little bit more. Once we started scoring, we were able to turn to the press and they started to turn the ball over."

Samantha Seaburn led Shenango in points and rebounds with 15 and 11, respectively. Carolyn Peterson posted 12 points and Angelina Sibeto added 11 points and six assists.
