Rochester (63) Vs. Union (54)
Jan 17, 2015
Things turned sour quickly for the visiting Union Scotties as they dropped a 63-54 Section 1-A decision to Rochester last night.
Union (4-3, 7-8) held the Rams to 13 first-half points, but couldn’t continue that momentum for the final 16 minutes.
The Scotties turned the ball over 22 times and allowed 50 second-half points to let Rochester (3-4, 7-7) take the game.
“The first half tells the tale,” Union coach Mark Stanley said. “We held them to 13 points. You hold a team to 13 points, you should put the game away. Our skill level is letting us down. We’re just turning it over.
“We weren’t stopping penetration. We didn’t locate guys a couple of times and they hit some threes. They were just able to finish. We had opportunities, but we kept missing free throws late in the game. We just kept letting them hang around.”
Cornell Charles led the Scotties with 14 points, while Garrison Bell added 10 points and seven assists.
Chad Meny tallied a game-high 18 points for the Rams and Jaevon Hayes tallied 14. Ishmael Tucker posted 13 points, while Chaz Verrico totaled 11.
