The Shenango High girls basketball team got out to a hot start and never looked back.
The Lady Wildcats took a 23-7 first-quarter advantage against Union and cruised to an 62-23 victory in the Shenango Tipoff Tournament.
Samantha Seaburn scored a game-high 17 points for the Lady Wildcats and Carolyn Peterson, Jacqui Baker and Angelina Sibeto contributed with 10 points each. Baker recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds, while Sibeto tallied six assists and five rebounds.
Tyanna Harris led Union with seven points, while Skylar Thompson added six points.
Union was held to just one basket in the second quarter as Shenango went into the break with a 39-9 advantage.
The Lady Scots were successful from 3-point range, hitting six shots from beyond the arc. Harris and Thompson each connected on two deep shots. Peterson hit the only two 3-pointers for the Lady Wildcats.
Union plays Moniteau at 4:30 p.m., while Shenango takes on Wilmington at 6.
