The West Allegheny Lady Indians raced to a 31-10 halftime lead and cruised to a 55-32 win over the Ellwood City Lady Wolverines in the first round of the South Side Beaver Tipoff Tournament.

Karington Ketterer paced Ellwood City Lincoln with 10 points and six rebounds. Allie McKelvey pulled down a team-high 12 boards to go with her four steals and three markers.

The Lady Wolverines turned the ball over 28 times as well.

“This was not the start that I had hoped for our first game out,” Ellwood City coach Jolene Servick said. “We committed too many turnovers and were not as aggressive as they were.

“They forced us into bad decisions and our shots were just not falling. We’ll learn from this one and get the next one.”
