Ambridge (71) Vs. Ellwood City (52)
Jan 30, 2013
The Wolverines got off to a slow start and never recovered in a Section 2-AAA road loss to Ambridge.
Ellwood City Lincoln (0-9, 3-15) fell behind 25-8 after the first quarter.
“That first quarter really hurt us,” first-year Wolverines coach Anthony Ovial said. “Ambridge is a good basketball team; they’re long and athletic.
“They kind of shocked us right off the bat, turning us over and they got easy buckets. They shot the ball well enough to separate themselves.”
Nick Aloi recorded a game-high 22 points, 15 coming in the fourth quarter. Mario Greco and Tanner Walsh added 11 apiece.
“Aloi kept grinding; all of our guys kept grinding,” Ovial said. “I thought Aloi made good decisions and he made good passes to find open guys.
“Our guys never put their heads down. They continued to play hard. The balance was encouraging. We haven’t had that for a while.”
Malik Walker and Daylon Carter netted 17 points each for the Bridgers (5-4, 9-7).
