West Allegheny took charge in the second quarter in a 56-43 Section 2-AAA home win over Ellwood City Lincoln.
The Indians (1-2, 3-3) outscored the Wolverines (0-3, 2-6) in the pivotal period, 22-13.
“We gave up a little run in the second quarter,” Ellwood coach Anthony Ovial said. “They’ve got good shooters. I thought we did a good job combating that, going toe-to-toe and making shots.
“West A. is good. They’re going to play solid and get buckets. They’re going to defend you very well. We were just not able to make a run back at them.”
Nick Aloi registered a game-high 19 points for the Wolverines and Mario Greco was next with 11.
Michael Miara tallied 18 markers for West Allegheny.
