Laurel falls to Quips
Aliquippa (81) Vs. Laurel (53)
Dec 20, 2012
A 20-point second quarter wasn’t enough in Laurel’s Section 2-AA loss to visiting Aliquippa.
“We kept it close in the first,” Spartans coach Ken Locke said. “They just made a run on us in the third.”
Jacob Wilson tallied a career-high 21 points while shooting 12 of 21 from the free-throw line. Wilson has been playing with a broken nose in his last three games and was schedule to have surgery on it today.
“It was another great performance by him,” Locke said. “Hopefully he’ll be back in time for our game on Saturday.”
Laurel (0-2, 1-4) was without guard Stephen Avery, who was out with a thumb injury. He was replaced by Scott Siddall, who finished with seven points.
Josh Finley grabbed a team-high eight boards to go along with eight points.
