Riverside started strong and breezed past Laurel for a Section 2-AA victory.

The Lady Panthers led 16-4 after one quarter and 30-13 at the half.

Sam Weir earned the Lady Spartans’ main focus after netting a game-high 21 points in the first meeting, a 60-38 Lady Panthers win. Weir was limited to just six points in the rematch.

“Our goal was to shut down Sam Weir and make everyone else beat us and that’s what exactly what they did,” Laurel coach Jessica Shevitz said.

Aislinn Deinert led the Lady Spartans (3-5, 5-11) with seven points and 10 rebounds, while Marisa Wallas contributed six markers.

Alex Deep netted a game-high 14 points for Riverside (7-1, 14-2), while Stefanie Kaiser and Nicole Mansfield chipped in with 12 apiece.

Laurel committed 27 turnovers.
