OLSH topples Union
Union (41) Vs. Sacred Heart (55)
Jan 15, 2011
Our Lady of Sacred Heart played smothering defense against Union to capture a 55-41 Section 1-A victory.
The Chargers (1-1, 8-3) held Union to two points in the first half and took a 27-16 lead into halftime. The Scotties (0-2, 0-11) got within 10 points to start the fourth quarter, but that was as close as they would get.
“We just missed a lot of easy ones,” Union coach Dave Smialowski said. “I can recall three easy layups that we missed in the first quarter. I think we started 0 for 10 from the field. The shots were there, we’re just not knocking them down.”
The Scotties’ Markel Peace just missed a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. He was the only Union player in double figures. The Scotties were 16 of 50 from the field.
Four players reached double figures for the Chargers, led by Matt Sangermano’s 15 points.
