It wasn’t pretty but it was still a win.

That was Luann Grybowski’s sentiments following her New Castle High girls basketball team’s 45-37 WPIAL Section 3-AAAA victory on the road against Seneca Valley last night.

A total of 49 turnovers were committed in the contest, 26 of which were committed by the Lady ’Canes. New Castle shot 16 of 31 from the field and was 0 for 10 from 3-point range.

“We still had too many turnovers,” Grybowski said. “We have to do a better job taking care of the ball.”

Tasia Wise paced the Lady ’Canes (3-0 section, 4-0 overall) with 17 points and 10 rebounds. She was 6 of 9 from the field and 5 of 6 from the foul line.

Nikki Wise led New Castle in rebounding with 13 boards to go with her nine points. Logan Hartman had six points and 10 rebounds.

Jackie Mangola led the Lady Raiders (0-2, 2-3) with 17 points.
