Darryl Pace’s layup at the buzzer lifted the Greyhounds over Sharpsville in a District 10, Region 2-AA contest.
Wilmington (4-1, 8-9) earned sole possession of second place in the region with the win. The ’Hounds have won four of their last five games in the process.
“This team has really turned the corner,” Wilmington coach Will Harris said. “They’re playing with some confidence and playing the way they’re capable of.”
Jake DeMedal, who scored a game-high 21 points, connected on two foul shots with 19 seconds left to give the ’Hounds a two-point lead.
Sharpsville (3-2, 9-8) came down on its next possession and tied the score. From there, Wilmington broke the press and DeMedal found Pace for the game-winning bucket. The 6-foot-3 center finished with 13 points.
