The Laurel High girls basketball team finished its season on a high note.

Lindsey Sauers led the way for the Lady Spartans as she recorded a game-high 21 points in a 56-42 WPIAL Section 2-AA victory over Shenango last night.

“It’s a nice way to end the season,” Laurel coach Jennifer McGarrah said. “Everybody played really well.”

Lacee Cutchall followed with nine points and dished out six assists for Laurel (3-9 section, 7-13 overall), which snapped its seven-game losing streak.

Kasie Brown registered a team-best 12 rebounds, while Courtney Smith chipped in with 11 boards and five blocks.

Brittany Mendel netted 10 points for the Lady Wildcats (1-11, 7-17), who lost their final 10 games of the season.
