Shenango too strong for Aliquippa

The Lady Wildcats pulled into a three-way tie for the fourth and final playoff berth in Section 1-2A with a 49-25 home league win over the Lady Quips.

Shenango (4-5, 6-10) is tied for fourth with Fort Cherry (4-5, 8-7) and Washington (4-5, 8-8) with five more section games remaining.

"We're behind where we wanted to be at this point," Lady Wildcats coach Jason Rankin said. "But, we're tied for fourth place and we've beat both of those teams (Fort Cherry and Washington). We have to keep improving and getting better down the stretch."

Shenango took charge in the third quarter, pushing a 22-16 halftime lead to 38-20 going to the final frame.

The Lady Wildcats' Madison Harden paced all scorers with 13 points and Addie George was next with 12. Jacqui Baker added nine tallies and a team-high 10 rebounds. George handed out five assists.

Jazmin Walker netted eight points to lead Aliquippa (2-7, 3-12).
