The New Castle Lady ‘Canes came out strong in the second half and rallied for a 53-37 Section 2-4A road win over the Hopewell Lady Vikings.
It’s the third consecutive win for New Castle (1-2, 5-4).
The Lady ‘Canes outscored Hopewell, 37-17, in the second half.
“We started out really slow,” said first-year New Castle coach Kara Joseph. “We were going through the motions.
“At halftime I told them we have to play our game. We just took it to them in the second half.”
Kayla Harvey and Jaidyn Eggleston netted 13 points each for the Lady ‘Canes, while Lindsay Frabotta added 11.
Frabotta contributed five assists, five blocks and five steals for New Castle and Eggleston notched five steals.
Mariah Shepherd and Harvey pulled down six rebounds each for the winners.
“We had great balance,” Joseph said. “Lindsay had a great game. She was just everywhere on both ends.”
Taylor Parrish provided nine points for the Lady Vikings (0-3, 2-7).
