The Lady Greyhounds came up short in an attempt to sew up a District 10 playoff berth in a narrow 34-31 Region 2-AA road loss.
Wilmington (4-6, 6-14) needs to win just one of its two remaining league games to lock up a playoff berth.
"It was heartbreaking," Lady Greyhounds coach Matt Fabian said of the loss. "But, we have to turn the page and move forward."
The Lady Blue Darlings, who were just 9 of 24 at the charity stripe, made the first of a two-shot foul with eight seconds left. But Sharpsville missed the second attempt, leaving it a three-point margin and the Lady Greyhounds' Jenna Peoples pulled down the rebound.
Despite having the ball and an attempt to tie, Wilmington never got a shot off and Sharpsville survived.
The Lady Greyhounds erased an early 1-0 deficit by closing the canto with seven-straight points for a 7-1 buffer. The visitors scored the first bucket of the second stanza to go up 9-1, but settled for a 9-7 margin at recess.
Wilmington turned the ball over 18 times in the opening half.
"We had plenty of opportunities to build the lead and take the crowd out of it," Fabian said. "But we got turnover happy.
"They started knocking down shots in the second half and they hit some key 3s. Four of their five three-pointers came in the second half. We just lost track of some shooters."
Peoples produced a game-best 15 markers for the Lady Greyhounds.
Laney Kratco collected 10 points to pace Sharpsville.
