Jan 22, 2008
The Warriors overcame a five-point deficit in the third quarter en route to a Section 2-AA win.
“We were down by five and we made some changes defensively,” Mohawk coach Kevin Wrona said. “We went to a one-three-one (zone defense) and Dan Powell came off the bench to give us a spark.”
Chase Frederick lit up the scoreboard for the Warriors, scoring nine of his 14 points in the third quarter when Mohawk outscored the Rams, 18-11.
“Chase showed a lot of heart,” Wrona said. “He’s been sick with the flu and missed practices this week.
“He hit three 3-pointers over the course of a few minutes to help us get going.”
Michael Henry and Matt Lorello each had a double-double for Mohawk (8-1, 11-5). Henry had 19 points and 10 rebounds. Lorello scored 15 and grabbed 10 boards. Justin Shaffer chipped in with 10 points.
R.J. Goosby led all scorers with 21 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Rams (2-8, 5-12).
