Jan 15, 2016
The Scotties inched closer to a WPIAL Class A playoff berth with the 78-59 Section 1-A homecourt win over Rochester.
Union (5-2, 7-7) is alone in third place in the section, behind Sewickley Academy (7-0) and Eden Christian (5-1). Rochester, which traveled with just five players, is 0-6, 4-9.
K’Von Huddleston led Union with 15 points, Garrison Bell added 14 points and Devin Wilson added 13.
The Scotties hit on 11 3-point field goals in the game, including three from Joey Crivelli.
Union coach Mark Stanley played 19 varsity and JV players in the game.
“It was good to let some of those other guys get some varsity playing time tonight, especially since there was no JV game,” Stanley said. “And I give a lot of credit to Rochester, they only had five players, but those kids played hard and didn’t give up.”
