The shots weren't falling for the Lady 'Canes, but they hit just enough to earn a 26-23 Section 2-AAA win over host Lincoln Park.

The defensive effort for New Castle (3-5, 4-10) was sufficient to earn the victory, despite dealing with foul trouble early as three starters had two fouls each in the first quarter.

"We went to the 2-3 zone and it worked for us," New Castle coach Maria Joseph said. "Shots just weren't falling, we were getting good looks but they were in and out. I was pleased with our defense, we had girls step up tonight and you need that when you have three starters on the bench."

Lindsay Frabotta paced New Castle with eight points, while Olivia Valenti hit both of the Lady 'Canes' 3-pointers for six points.
