Cornell (59) Vs. Union (43)
Jan 29, 2013
Cornell put the clamps down on visiting Union in a Section 1-A victory.
The Lady Scots (7-3, 10-6) scored just six points in the second quarter and trailed 27-17 at the break.
“Their defense was pretty good the whole game,” Union coach Brian Fadden said. “We had some good looks, but they just weren’t falling for us in the second quarter.
“It just kept mounting as the quarter went on, too.”
Union is a half-game up on the Lady Raiders (6-3, 9-7) for second place in the section. The teams split the regular season meetings.
“We need to regroup,” Fadden said. “Tonight was disappointing. But we can move forward from this.
“I thought we did some things pretty well. We just need to correct our mistakes.”
Miranda Heaney tallied 16 points to lead the Lady Scots and her twin sister Marissa Heaney was next with 13.
Mason DePetro tossed in a game-high 30 points for Cornell.
