Beaver Falls (44) Vs. Laurel (40)
Dec 14, 2012
Laurel struggled in the fourth quarter in a Section 2-AA home loss to Beaver Falls.
The Lady Spartans (0-1, 1-3) were outscored 15-6 in the pivotal frame. Laurel was 6 of 14 from the foul line for the game as well.
“We made some inexperienced mistakes,” Lady Spartans coach Jessica Shevitz said. “Beaver Falls is a very good team and they rallied back.
“Foul shots hurt us. We missed a few that could have kept us in it.”
Laurel fell behind 18-4 after one quarter but stormed back for a 22-21 halftime advantage.
“I was concerned in the first quarter, but they came roaring back,” Shevitz said. “The second quarter was the most exciting I’ve seen at Laurel in a long time.
“To be able to go in and make that comeback and lose by four is nothing to be ashamed of. It was very encouraging.”
The game was tied at 36 with three minutes left.
Jessica Conrad led the Lady Spartans with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Ayanna Vaughn tossed in a game-high 23 points for Beaver Falls (1-0, 2-2).
