Wilmington boys roll to win
Wilmington (69) Vs. Commodore Perry (32)
Dec 12, 2012
Wilmington continued its trend of lopsided scores this season.
The Greyhounds (2-1) limited visiting Commodore Perry (0-3) to two third-quarter points in the victory.
“We discussed at halftime we had a couple of mental breakdowns,” Wilmington coach Mike Jeckavitch said. “We really tried to clean things up in the third quarter.”
The average margin of victory for Wilmington has been 44 points this season. The Greyhounds dropped a 62-26 verdict to Girard in their second matchup. They were anxious to bounce back in their home opener.
“We started out pretty hot and got up on them really early,” Jeckavitch said. “We forced a lot of turnovers. It was our first home game and we wanted to perform really well. We stepped up to the challenge after that bad loss to Girard.”
Wilmington’s Jesse Hilliard led a trio of scorers in double figures with 14 points. Rocco Fagan and Jordan Smith were next with 13 points each.
“Those three have really put the time in,” Jeckavitch said. “They are the only three lettermen I have returning from last year’s team. We’re going to live and die by the way those three play.”
