Nick Aloi continued his hot play with 33 points to lead the Wolverines to the championship of their own tipoff tournament.

The Blue Devils (1-1), coached by former Neshannock mentor Jim Smiley, took a 16-11 lead after the first quarter. They clung to a 27-26 halftime advantage. Ellwood (2-0) rallied in the third quarter to grab a 45-44 lead. The hosts secured the win with a 25-point fourth quarter.

“It was a good game. Sharpsville really gave it to us early. They put us down early,” Ellwood coach Anthony Ovial said. “Our kids did a good job of playing for four quarters. We fought back. A lot of guys made a lot of key shots. When we had to make the plays at right times, we did. We had guys make shots, pull down rebounds, make steals and play tough defense when we needed it. We did what we had to do to win. Our guys fought hard all weekend.”

Matt Young added 12 points for the Wolverines.
