Balanced attack leads Ellwood girls

Kara Sainato scored a team-high 13 points to help Ellwood City post a 39-27 win over Carlynton at the South Side Beaver Tournament.
Sainato swished three 3-pointers and went 4-for-4 at the foul line in the fourth quarter to help Ellwood reach tonight’s championship game.
“Nine girls took the floor and all gave quality minutes,” Lady Wolverines coach Jolene Servick said.
Ellwood had a 10-7 lead after the first and held a 22-14 halftime advantage. The Lady Wolverines pulled away in the third for a 30-15 lead.
Asia Borders had 12 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Angela McCowin had two points, five rebounds and four blocks. Karington Ketterer had five points, four rebounds and two blocks. Sainato added four rebounds, three steals, a block and an assist.
“Kara Sainato was a threat from behind the arc and Asia Borders had a great all-around game,” Servick said. “Angela McCowin was a dominant inside force for us.”
Hannah Murray scored a game-high 17 points for Carlynton.
