The Mohawk High boys basketball team gave a spirited effort on Saturday but it came up a bit short.

Seneca Valley raced to a 23-11 lead and held on for a 69-61 decision in a nonsection matchup.

The Raiders (7-3) are a Class AAAA school.

The Warriors (6-2) trailed by 15 points after three quarters but outscored Seneca Valley 17-10 in the final quarter to make it interesting.

Matt Lorello paced Mohawk with 18 points and four steals, while Cory Nesbitt added 17 markers. Justin Shaffer contributed 15 points and four steals.

Michael Henry pulled down a team-high seven rebounds for Mohawk.

C.J. Brown netted a team-best 18 points for the Raiders.
